Hey, I'm Yassine!

I'm a graduate student at Columbia University building applications across AI and software engineering. My work focuses on turning ideas into systems that are not just technically sound, but genuinely useful, reliable, and impactful in practice — from AI-driven workflows and retrieval systems to full-stack applications.

I've also worked on research involving decision-making under uncertainty and system behavior, which shapes how I approach building technology that performs beyond ideal conditions. I'm especially drawn to problems where strong engineering meets practical usefulness and real impact.

Founder & AI Software Engineer

RecipeOne

Jul 2025 — Jan 2026

Built a multi-tenant B2B SaaS platform for institutional foodservice operations, enabling recipe planning, procurement, and inventory workflows across multi-site facilities. Designed a scalable PostgreSQL and REST API backend spanning 15+ entities and 30+ relational tables, and implemented automated unit conversion and yield pipelines across 7,000+ ingredient records to generate purchasing quantities and cost estimates.

Software Engineering Intern

EAT PRO JAPAN

May 2024 — Aug 2024

Built and improved web features for a food service platform supporting restaurant operations and customer engagement. Developed backend APIs and frontend components that strengthened core product functionality and improved responsiveness and usability, while collaborating across product and engineering to translate requirements into production-ready features.

Co-Founder & Software Engineer

ListFlowAI

Oct 2023 — Apr 2025

Co-founded an AI-powered B2B SaaS automation platform used by 200+ users, processing 5,000+ inbound leads through LLM-driven enrichment, classification, and routing workflows. Architected backend services and data pipelines with Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL to extract structured data from emails, forms, and CRM exports, reducing manual lead processing by 80%.

Research

Campus Drone Delivery System

Colorado State University

Research-Based Web Simulation Project

Built a web-based simulation modeling autonomous drone deliveries under dynamic weather and demand, capturing realistic last-mile logistics behavior. Designed adaptive route optimization and scheduling algorithms that reduced average delivery time by 18% and energy consumption by 12% compared with baseline heuristics, and developed interactive analytics dashboards to visualize fleet performance in real time.

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Alma College

with Dr. Andrew Thall

Led undergraduate research on learning-augmented path planning under dynamic uncertainty, presenting the work in poster form through a benchmark-driven study of safety, efficiency, and robustness trade-offs. The project combined interactive visualization, algorithm analysis, and controlled experiments to evaluate how replanning frequency and heuristic design affect navigation performance in changing environments.

Senior Thesis

Alma College

Learning-Augmented Model Predictive Control for Human-Aware Robot Navigation

Built a thesis project focused on learning-augmented model predictive control for human-aware robot navigation, examining how predictive control, uncertainty, and social navigation constraints interact in dynamic environments. The work ties together autonomy, decision-making under uncertainty, and intelligent systems with an emphasis on methods that remain reliable beyond idealized settings.
